Chief Executive Officer (CEO)


Job purpose summary 

  • The CEO is the highest-ranked executive at the company.  The CEO is responsible for creating, planning and implementing the strategic direction of the company. The role manages the company’s overall resources and operations through a team of executives.

Key responsibilities

  • Provide inspired leadership company wide
  • Make high-level decisions about policy and strategy
  • Report to the board of directors and keep them informed
  • Act as the primary spokesperson for the company
  • Develop the company’s culture and overall vision, mission and goals
  • Create an environment that promotes great performance and employee development
  • Oversee the company’s fiscal activity, including budgeting, reporting and auditing
  • Ensure compliance with legal and business regulations
  • Maintain contact with key partners, customers and shareholders
  • Build alliances and partnerships with other organizations
  • Oversee day-to-day operation of the company
  • Work closely with the organization to ensure great hiring

Qualifications

  • Master or PhD degree in relevant discipline or MBA
  • Experience in a senior management position
  • Knowledge of profit and loss, balance sheet and cash flow management and general finance and budgeting
  • Familiarity with various business functions such as marketing, sales, finance, HR etc
  • Ability to work under pressure, plan personal workload effectively and delegate
  • Excellent communication and public speaking skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills
  • Proven negotiations skills
